THE BASICS STEP BY STEP….
Scrubbed or peeled
- Preheat the steam oven to a temperature of 100°C
- Scrub the potatoes clean or peel the potatoes
- Place the potatoes in a tray or dish that is suitable for steaming vegetables and place it in the steam oven
- How long it will take before the potatoes are done depends upon the size of the potato and the type of potato. Whether you steam 500 grams or 1000 grams of potatoes: this will not influence the cooking time
- On average, it will take about 35-40 minutes to steam whole average size potatoes
- Once cooked, you can season the potatoes to taste with nutmeg, pepper and/or salt.
Tip!
You can shorten the steaming time by cutting the potatoes into smaller chunks: if you halve them, then the cooking time will be about 20-25 minutes; if you quarter them, the cooking time will be about 18-20 minutes

Whether you opt for a creamy (or mealy) potato, or a waxy potato is simply a matter of taste. Creamy potatoes, such as Eigenheimer, Frieslanders and Doré, have a less compact structure and will fall apart more easily when boiling. The outer layer of these potatoes cooks more quickly than the inside. Would you prefer the potatoes hold their shape as they boil, then opt for firm texture, waxy potatoes, such as Nicola, Bildtstar, Charlotte and Roseval
Tip! Portion size
We recommend a portion size of approx. 200 grams per person.
